5th Annual Rev. Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Yo Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. BSL Educational Foundation Inc. Presents: 5th Annual Rev. Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Young People’s Oratorical Contest Theme: Education: Can We Close the Achievement Gap? The Beta Sigma Lambda (BSL) Educational Foundation Inc. in conjunction with Travelers presents the 5thAnnual Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Young Peoples Oratorical Contest, themed “Education: Can We Close the Achievement Gap”. The contest takes place on Saturday, January 10th at Bethel AME Church (1154 Blue Hills Ave, Bloomfield, CT) from 6pm-8:30pm.Our eight middle and high school contestants will address the highly debatable topic regarding the current state of education in United States. This is a free event open to the public and we encourage those who plan to attend to bring non-perishable food items for the BSL Educational Foundations ongoing Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive.

Greetings Brothers! As the month of November approaches, so does the ONECA 36th Annual District Conference, this year held in Providence, Rhode Island. The Fifth Annual: Project Alpha Symposium

The Greater Hartford Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. held the Fifth Annual Project Alpha Symposium on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Capital RegionEducation Council (CREC) Central Office 111 Charter Oak Ave Hartford, CT) from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. More than 40 middle school and high school age young men attended the free symposium which was co-sponsored by The March of Dimes, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,Inc. Beta Sigma Lambda Chapter. Students hailed from 10 Greater Hartford area towns and participated in workshop dealing Male Health and Sexual Responsibility. The workshops addressed topics ranging from sexual health and teen pregnancy prevention to behavioral health, health and conflict resolution.The free symposium included enriching activities, lunch, interactive discussions, and one of a kind Project Alpha t-shirts.
